1. Original summaries, third-party books
Summaries on Pithy Books are original writing: retellings and commentary, not reproductions of the books. Titles, author names, cover art, and quoted material belong to their respective rights holders and are referenced for identification and criticism.
2. Fair use and copyright
Summaries aim to stay on the right side of fair use / fair dealing: they describe and comment in our own words rather than substituting for the original. If you hold rights in a work covered here and believe a page goes too far, email [email protected] with the page URL, proof of rights, and the outcome you want (correction, attribution change, or removal). We review every claim individually and act promptly on valid ones — see the contact page for what to include.
3. Acceptable use
- Read, link to, and quote pages with attribution — that is what they are for.
- Do not scrape the library in bulk, republish full summaries as your own, or present this content as affiliated with the original authors or publishers.
- Do not abuse the contact address (spam, unlawful content, or automated bulk mail).
4. No professional advice
Non-fiction summaries explain ideas from books; they are not medical, legal, financial, or other professional advice. Always consult the original work and qualified professionals before acting on consequential decisions.
5. Accuracy
We write from a full reading of each book and aim for accuracy, but summaries condense long works and mistakes happen. Key facts (titles, authors, ISBNs, series order) are validated at build time; interpretations are our own. Corrections are welcome at [email protected].
6. Availability and liability
The site is provided “as is” without warranties. We do our best to keep pages available and correct, but we are not liable for errors, omissions, downtime, or decisions you make based on summaries, to the maximum extent permitted by law.
7. External links
Cover images and occasional references point to external services (e.g. Open Library). We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or policies.
8. Changes
These terms may be updated as the library grows; the “last updated” date reflects the current version. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated terms.
